8/30/03

The Melanie Mason Band wins the DC Blues Society "Battle of the Bands" competition at the Carter Barron. The band will represent the DC Blues Society at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis (January 2004). 

Later that night, the band opens for Grammy-winner Robert Cray and his band at the State Theatre in Falls Church, VA. Melanie gets to meet one of her main guitar heroes!

7/03 - 9/03

Melanie appears on WETA-TV throughout the ssummer and fall to promote Martin Scorsese's PBS "The Blues" film series (airing late September 2003). In the 30-second spot, she plays electric guitar in the same fringe jacket as on her CD cover. Visit www.pbs.org/theblues for a preview of the  upcoming film series.

The band receives a nomination for the "Best Blues Band" award by the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA). In addition, Melanie is nominated for two awards in the categories of "Best Blues Instrumentalist" and "Best Blues Vocalist."

12/02 - 1/03

Melanie performs acoustic blues on Takoma Coffeehouse TV show throughout December.
